Coming up Bilko`s rear

After a brief rest he continues..........

On the road for 10am after yet another hearty breakfast. And for the first time the prospect of a day on the bike didn`t have the appeal that it had had on the previous few weeks!:nenau

I headed onto the Blue Ridge Highway which I was expecting to be a rollercoaster of a road as everyone up until now had been going on about it.

Now don`t get me wrong, this is an impressive piece of road but after Montana and Colorado it just seemed to be lacking a little.
Maybe it was me and I was just starting to get a little tired of riding twisty after twisty ( never thought I would ever say that) a month on your own though gives you plenty of time to think about stuff.

Stopping for Lunch in Asheville NC I hadn`t a clue where I was heading for that evening. I just new I had to keep going east so thats what I did.

Got Tired around 1700 ish and ended up in a Motel Near Raleigh NC.
Found a chinese buffet place and the food was minging. Without a doubt the worst meal so far.
Guess I cant complain though. The first Bad meal in about 60 isn`t bad!
Checking out the Map at dinner I spied Kitty Hawk and as it was near the Beach I decided it was time to dip my toes in the Atlantic tmrw.

Mileage:6175
Start: Into the Valley, The Skids
Finish: Avenues and Alleyways, Tony Christie

On the road for 1030 this morning ( starting to get later) and had an easy ride to Kitty Hawk. You cross some fantastic bridges that are miles long.
The weather was getting silly now and I hadn`t had the Belstaff on for quite a while now.
Just riding in a shirt. Sure its dangerous but sod it....SO is Alcohol abuse,,,,,they tell me.:beerjug:

Arrived in Kitty Hawk at 3 ish and its a pretty little town right on a thin stretch of mother earth out in the Atlantic. I headed straight to the beach and had a dip.

As expected the sea was bloody freezing so after 5 minutes and a few close run ins with Jelly fish the size of Africa ( well big anyway:D) it was time to find digs for the night.
This turned out to be quite a drama and not for the first time thought it might be a night under the stars.
I finally find a tiny little cabin on the sea front for a $100. Bargain I`m told!!!!
Supper is found in the Pig Man BBQ Hut. What this place lacks in decor it certainly makes up in with flavoursome belly timber:drool
The smell of the place was unbelievably good. By the time my ribs turned up my mouth was dripping like a fooked fridge.
On the way back to my digs it appeared my little map I had been filling out every evening with my route flew off the back of the bike.

To say I was upset was an understatement. I spent and hour riding round looking for it to no avail.
Its funny how you can get attached to something so insignificant to anyone else that finds it but to me it was part of the trip slowly tracing my route every evening on it:(
I consoled myself in a local bar with several local ales and the company of these convivial filleys.:)

Since this thread had bumped its way to the top I thought it was a new one. Has taken a few hours this morning (interspersed by actual work) reading the last 14 pages only to realise it's 2 years old! :comfort
Still, a brilliant read & fantastic photo's, thank you :)

The end is in sight................ it`s been 2 years of wrangling but my legal team have managed to arrange that I can finally finish this.
