Hi,
I bought my GS from SLM in 07 and have always had it serviced there. However the last couple of times, despite dropping the bike off at 8am they have failed to have the bike ready by the close of play (and it has been a Friday, so they don't finish it until Monday). These were normal 18 and 24K services.

I will probably use BGM at Pembury once the bike's out of warranty as he dug me out of a hole 2 days before I was going on a trip and I have heard good things about him. But in the mean time I am looking for another dealer for my next service and Coopers is the next closest to me as I live near Gatwick.

So has anyone got any comments regarding Coopers either good or bad?

I have never had any major problems with them. Silly stuff like seat not put back on properly, handlebar set to mechanics preference - all fixed in seconds.

All works have been completed in time, on time unless additional parts were unexpectedly needed, when that has happened they have phoned to tell me. I know wuite accuratekly when my services wil be due 3-4 weeks in advance so I do book early. I usually drop off at 07:45- 08:15, and generally they phone back later in the morning to say it is all done.

If you leave it 'til later, anyone will try and take the business but may be stretching their resources to do so...They have helped me out at very short notice in the past, but then they do know my bike will need servicing 4-5 times a year.

What about trying Chandlers in Brighton. Probably the same distance. They've just carried out my 24k service with no probs. Even changed my Drive shaft under warranty. Good price for service too :thumb2

I have had a similar problem with SLM. Last service (6000K) I waited 6 hours at the showroom for it to be completed. I waited because they said two hours to complete it. In fairness they had to travel across to Battersea to get a new rocker cover gasket but did not start the strip down until after the driver returned and the mechanic has finished his lunch. They didn't even turn off the srvice indicator during the service.

A week later the chain failed and SLM weren't interested and told me on the phone to call BMW assistance and send it to the nearest BMW dealer at Tonbridge. This was after repeated calls to them, the service dept phoned me back after the orginal call, nearly 8 hours later. By this time the bike was in Tonbridge after being recovered.

I'm not going back to SLM, very disappointed. Coopers were great, kept me up to date and provided a quick efficient service. I will be going there for the next service and its slightly nearer to get to.

My GSA is going in to Coopers Tunbridge Wells womorrow for an18k service and a couple of bits of warranty work:augie before the warranty runs out next week, Friendly guys, Lovely showroom, Good service and excellent coffee, I've got no reason to use anyone else! :thumb

I've never had any problems except once where an dmin error meant my work wasn't completed on time, but they didn't charge me for it, which saved me a fair amount.

I've used Coopers twice. They seem good to me.

Positive:
- Completed work on time
- No fuss with a warranty item
- Good range of loan bikes
- Friendly staff

Neutral:
- Typical BMW prices :tears
- The don't give ya bike a wash afterwards

Negative:
- never seem to set my clock to the correct time :nenau
- they messed up my service indicator so it started warning that a service was almost due 3 weeks after the previous service. My mate used his GS911 diag computer and the service clock thought the year was 2031.

Thanks for the replys folks. I think that I may give Cooper's a try next time. But I'll keep in Chandlers in mind. A trip to the sea side is always nice, an excuse for fish and chips.

I fairness to SLM, after my initial post I was rushed to hospital and phoned them to explain as they had my bike and I had their loan bike in my garage. They arranged to deliver my bike home and pick up the loaner. So good service to get me out of a sticky spot.
