I've been very impressed with the bike, I was expecting far more problems than this with a 'new' model. The following is what I've had from mine, and the dealers response etc:

1. Seats. Rear seat malformed along seam, wavey seam line. Got replacement today at dealer, they've ordered a front as well as thats on its way. Handful of GSA's have had similar.

2. Cubby hole hatch catch rusting. Not really a biggie.......but its been ordered.....and mentioned by a handful of GSA owners. Dealer has ordered new one.

3. Fuel Filler Cap. Opened cap, various seals all fell out. Rubber seal nearly fell into tank. One other GSA before mine. Dealer has ordered new one.

4. Rear shock thingie (....I'm in IT.....not mechanical...probably didnt need to explain that..) moving from side to side (the gold coloured thing), trapping a cable. Dealer re-routed cable slightly to stop it pinching - they've had 3 or 4 in with this.

Anyone got anything else I should be watching out for ? I've seen the screen catches/circlips dropping out - mine appears ok on that.

If you read my post ' am l the first person to have there new gsa recovered ' a few have commented that they too have had an ESA warning on the dash then after a time it fixes itself and no faults present.

When l spoke to vines about what had happened they have had ESA issues with there demo bike with was down to a faulty switch.

Cant believe bmw quality these days. Its gone downhill so much. Bits falling off, trapped wores, rust, breakdowns,so poor. Even your everday cheap jap bikes dont have anywhere near the quality issues bmw have. I personally think bmw are way over priced for the metal you get. Badge engineering= its got the label, you pay big money.....quality aint there though. Bit dissapointed really but a great ride..

The switch on the dash?

You have to laugh out loud, at the petrol cap

How the fuck did that happen, surely they could put the seals on properly...............it seems not:blast

To be fair to BMW - this is my 7th one and it's had the least wrong so far. I was expecting a lot more to be honest. I have to say that I've never been more impressed with a bike - really is a jump up from the twin-cam.

My rear seats exactly the same as yours, was wondering what the dealer would say when it goes in for its 1st service

The cap still 'worked' it's just that all the inner seals fell off!! (Luckily not into the tank)!

I rode a Demo GSA yesterday that had rusted spoke nipples in the rear wheel ....... not one or two, about half of them and only on the rear

It also had the deforming pillion seat, a clunk through the suspension that manifested itself every time you caught a cats eye and a droaning noise through the transmission when slowing down through 4500 to 4000RPM

Probably all perfectly normal? :nenau

But did you buy it?

Mental note; never buy an ex demo, if they treat them this badly.:rob

Had coolant tipping out from a breather hole under the left cylinder head after 200 miles. New water pump fitted and sorted out. Other than that, happy to report, faultless. Especially enjoyed coming home from the North West 200 on it last night in a convoy of sports bikes. They, like most of the car drivers, were slightly bemused at the intense white lights behind them. Riding with my mate on his KTM 990 during the night last weekend said it was like the Millenium Falcon was coming in to land behind him! :D

Fark orf it's more like a well worn in comfy pair of steel toecap work boots :-D

Put it this way .... The new GSA is like a running shoe where as my 06 GSA is like a comfy pair of old slippers and I gave up running anywhere in 1985

After running on cruise pulling "resume" sometimes resets the speed rather than resuming back. That's it, great bike so far.
