Have the opportunity to buy an 81 R65LS cheap & close. What parts can be used on my R80, R80G/SPD, or R100GS & GSPD?

I'm thinking starter motor, rocker covers (unmarked), disc carrier, driveshaft & maybe gearbox.

Is this a chance to add some useful spares to the shed or just another pile of junk to clamber over, around & under

Would off load unsuitable parts via ebay.

65 ls, engine was slightly tuned up.[edit. it is, 50bhp {same as Mono 80g/s} as against 45]
I'll see if I can find details.

Small frame like the monos, but with obvious difference [2 shocks]
Apparently some very nice HPN like specials have been made out of 65's using 80 barrels and pistons..
Under 7000 made and a very nice bike to ride...
I had one in 1982 only sold it because I didn't like it 2 up...
Wish I'd kept it now............:augie

The R65ls is a twin shock so the drive shaft won't be any good.
The discs will be different.
Only things interchangable are the electrics ( alternator, starter, etc) and gearbox. :D

Bought my R65 new in 1980, and still have it . What do you need to know :D

R65LS has come and gone. You blokes were spot on, not many interchangeable parts, although did keep the starter motor, a clutch lever, air box clips and snorkels, chrome inlet tube clamps and a few other bits to top up the Useful Box. Sold it for what I paid so am happy.

Wasn't so happy when I got home and found the frame number had been ground off :eek probably not from falling off the side stand :D Not to mention the bubblegum repair to the lower tank :eek

Rule 1 of buying -stop chatting and look harder.

Rule 2- Never buy an Italian bike alone! Especialy if fitted with rorty exhausts.

Rule 3- Never buy a bike in the rain.

Rule 4-Never buy a dirty motocrosser.

Rule 5-Never buy any bike AFTER visiting the pub.

Rule 6-Never stand up in a canoe.

Been there my friend! Only one of the above had a cheap outcome.
