There's quite a few on here that work in broadcast so you're just going to have to quantify what you mean by 'broadcast quality'

Currently, I'd be thinking 16:9 HD (720p). But my guess is that it's 4:3 and 320i.....

The thing is most of the guys on here don't actually need one of your camera systems , HOWEVER, that doesn't stop us from buying metal mule panniers, akrapovic exhausts, power commanders, aerostich suits ,top of the range arais ad infinitum and we dont really need those either.

Why do we buy 'em? Because we love to spend money on biking kit that we think is cool!! We think WOW.... I MUST have one of those.

There are loads of guys on here, (I'm not one of them , sorry ) , with the disposable income to buy a TOY like yours , FFS Ming popped into town with his mate and came back home with a brand new Porsche , but I really think you need to make a little more effort to tempt them

i agree the kit does sound Very Good Quality.

if i could afford it - this is the standard i would go for. it would be most useful when training riders - "a picture (REALLY!) is worth a thousand words".

but only if its a clear picture easily seen in strong sunlight in an easily used format, capable of showing at the side of the road on a decent sized screen.

been looking at these two from samsung.

220 can be bought for just over £400 if shopping around. reading reviews, i'm still not sure if it's what i want, but it shows that these devices are going mainstream. won't be able to move for them on the market soon i think.

Repeating the above, proof of the pudding is in the eating, proof of vid gear is in the results. No pics no proof. Even allowing for reduced quality of YouTube and limited editing opportunities it can give you some idea of what you might be able to do with what you get for the money.

I have played around with bike video and posted results on YouTube (links from other threads on this forum) which show a bit what you can do with ordinary cameras and RFConcept kit (which worked fine).

Nothing seen or said on this thread to date gives me pause for thought about shelling out any further £££ on replacement gear.

It seems a lot of the people here want to be convinced it is worth the money but so far you have not managed to do that.

Fitzy's kind offer notwithstanding, I've found a nice solid state/HDD combo unit for £300 but once you add in cards, cameras, mounts etc the price is still £700 - £800.

Fact is quality costs and I've not come across anything that, on paper, is better value for money that Fitzy's system especially when you consider that they design and build it. You can get cheaper, but not necessarily better.

i assume you're just hazarding a guess as to the quality of fitzy's unit, or have you actually seen any results from his kit?

I'm currently using the chase cam setup, mpeg2 recording to compact flash cards. The recorder powers the camera, and you can power the recorder off the bike (which is what I do) has a built in mic, or you can add a powered mic.

Looking at their website, if you ordered the remote monitor as well to position the camera it's going to work out about £620 including shipping and VAT, or £530 without the monitor if you've already got one. You can get 1 1/2 hours on a 4Gb card which are about £35.

Best recorder I've ever used, and I've broken 2 camcorders and an Archos, and think mpeg2 is the best quality for the big screen having tried both.

I'm sure I've seen footage somewhere but as my HDD died on Sunday and I'm only just back in business I'm not sure where or when.

I've looked at loads of systems including Dogcam, chase, samsung and others and the prices all work out the same once you add in the extra bits to the same spec as Fitzy's and all the cameras etc are the same so I expect similar video quality.
The biggest difference is that Fitzy's does PiP so you can see images from 2 cameras on screen which gives you twice the coverage (ie front and back).

I'm still unconvinced about the hassle of yet more crap on my bike for the RTB but as a general use item it could be fun.

Now where's that lottery ticket?
