There's a rumour running in South Africa, Behr the company manufacturing the rims for BMW is closing down, and spoke wheels wont' be an option on GS's any more. Or they would might move over to non tube rims.

Hard to believe BMW won't sell a GS with mag type rims, or non tubeless rims?

Also seems like a old story, both my 1200 rims are out of true form very early on, now it makes sense to me why, if you read what Woody wrote in the ADVrider thread.

Might have to take mine off to keep them safe in case the become collectable

BMW are probably just changing their sub-supplier. Can't see they're going to change such a basic design feature of the bike.

The recession is hitting a lot of sub-component manufacturers - and not just for bikes.

Continuation of sub-component supply has become a much bigger risk-issue for all vehicle manufacturers.

I always get confused by double negatives...won't,nontubeless ???

The spoked wheels are tubeless. in case anybody doesn't know that.

BMW own the X-Spoke patents, the original supplier to their design was Akront. I guess they'll find another firm to make them if they intend to continue to offer tubeless-spoked wheels. :nenau

When the chassis suppliers to Land Rover got into financial difficulties Land Rover bought the company. Is it that hard to assume that BMW wouldn't do the same? :nenau
