Hi All

Hopefully someone can help?

I am just about to buy a 15 RT LE in grey....cant wait!

The idea is to buy it as a company vehicle, all is fine apart from I am having a wee bit of problem with the insurance. From my research so far very few normal motorbike insurance companies seem willing to insure company bikes....if anyone has gone down this route: any good tips of who I should go to etc would be really helpful. Thanks.

Hi I'm insured with hastings, I use my bike for business and pleasure, the bike is a business asset as I use it for reconstructions and alike.

Dusty

thanks Dusty...most helpgul...is your bike registered in the company name and place of business?

The registered keeper does not need to be the owner.

My bike is insured by BMW as they seem to have a good way of dealing with extras, MCE didn't even want extra premium, they just said no to cover such as engine bars.

Hi

I recently renewed my insurance. BMW Insurance was about a third dearer than the comparison sites I went on..

I require business use as I don't commute to a single place, but different clients premises.

It cost £213,with legal cover, full comp & protected NCB.

Insured my bike with BMW in my name and they know that the company own the bike.

No problem whatsoever.

same as Dusty . Purchase the bike using company funds , register the bike to you . Insure as per normal but have business use on the policy

I was advised to do this by my accountant .I like you run my own business and the bike is an asset of that company, I make a claim against it each year ,I also claimed the VAT back and bike charges like fuel , services , the odd trip to scotland to see a client :D etc

ENJOY

Binky,

I will be doing things differently for my next bike, however the bike is purchased and registered in my companies name, managed to find only two companies that would insure - Bike sure and a very small broke. they both were effectively offering insurance from maker study. The rub I have found is that the premium is ALOT HIGHER! for a 2014 RT personally I could insure for around £3-450, through the company that jumped to around £800!, although it still saves me money over running the vehicle personally!

Looks like I might change the approach next time!

Simon.

Thanks Simon..that's where I was on Thursday...MCE have quoted just over £400...which doesn't sound bad...I will continue weighing up all options and let you guys know

Just remember MCE don't cover extras, for example, my BMW system 6 with BT and my leathers are NOT part of the extras.Top box was excluded. I moved from MCE as they just didn't want to know about anything but the premium and getting my cash

Have you tried LV, my GS was coming up at £350.00 for renewal this time with BMW ...with 4 years N/C's covering up to 12,000 miles annual mileage.

LV were very simple and at £197.00 and 20,000 miles cover inc luggage and riding gear I changed....although unlike BMW they have no track day cover.

Not sure about business use.

Aviva will insure co. owned bikes but as said already, as the keeper, you can insure it personally.

Hi

Aviva offer really good cover, but don't do any protected NCB policies.

Just been quoted £539 by BMW but with low excess, leathers, helmet, euro breakdown and loads of stuff....track days included!....I am thinking this is worth the extra....will have a go at LV today

Sorry forgot to mention this is my second bike so no ncb, but clear on all convictions, claims etc...over 50 and kept in a locked barn...Bikesure quoted £979:yelrotflm
and it took over 32 mins to get such a quote

LV just come in at £420 and £200 excess for up to 20,000 miles inc helmet and leathers, commuting and business but no track day...Seems pretty good too

Aviva were in at just over £800 but he did say that they were only good at certain types of smaller engined bikes.

Went with LV in the end full business insurance and commuting, helmet and leathers etc 20,000 miles @ £420. BTW Jordan did call up and leave a message apologising and did reduce price
but not enough....at least he made the effort to explain and that goes along way in my book, did the first 200 miles yesterday and loving it!
