This guy from the Highways department just turned up outside my house to mark the potholes in the road for repair. Lucky fellow but I wonder if it's best use of tax payers money? I had a quick chat with him and he admitted that it was way more than he needed to do the job.

At least he is riding a bike.He will probably get more holes fixed then the ones who drive around in cars.

Yep, seen him around Redditch a few times, if he didn't have GS it would have to be a company car of some sort so best of luck to him. Gissa job:D

If its anything like my Local Authority, it'll be his own bike and getting paid 28 pence per mile - you try running an LC on 28p a mile.

You may find that they get them at a very advantageous price from BMW and the resale/lease hand back makes it worthwhile

Jeeez, what else would you have him ride about on?

He looks to be using a Laptop, probably carries Photo/Video equipment, paperwork, Tape Measure, Marker Sprays, etc, etc. Needs a good position to see all the road, needs something large to mark the road when he stops to work and keep him protected OFF the bike as much as possible - He is working IN the Road for Christ sake. On it all day, everyday so needs to be comfy and Safe.

So what other 2 wheeled vehicle do you suggest the Council provides to its staff to perform on all its highways, in all weathers and all road conditions?

I really would like to know?

In my book he has the perfect hardware tool to perform his job Safely, in Comfort and Expediently, after all the better he does his job the safer it is for all us 2 wheel Pony riders! Well done that council!

Good Luck to the Guy, at least we know somebody that gets home with a smile on his face everyday after work :bounce1

On the other hand, he may have an intense dislike for German bikes, especially those with ABS!. :nenau

Well,
Triumph are known to make reasonable bikes these days.
It should be local authority policy to source British products if at all possible.
