Comparison 08 to 07

Well, just managed to sneak off and ride my newly acquired 07 XCountry. Compared to my previous 08, it's feels a bit more eager, with a bit more vibration perhaps. It's done 25K miles, so is well run in, main issue is going to be the suspension. The lass I bought it from was quite a lot lighter than me, and the Hagon shortened shock she had fitted gives me a ride height that's close to ideal for me, but bottoms out on bumpy roads, which is well uncomfortable.

Looks like a Wilbers will be needed, not sure there is much room for an external reservoir though.

Has the original Sachs been spirited away long ago?

I'm thinking it's actually not a bad shock and with a decent heavier weight spring and revalve, won't be too bad

No, got the original Sachs unit and was just peering at it wondering about getting that furtled as a first attempt, quite a lot longer though.

You can get a wilbers 642 in there, but you are looking at mm's between the reservoir and the exhaust. If you can find one fitted with a remote preload, that may be better.

Might go for the 640, cheaper and bit more basic, but no reservoir. But getting a shorter spring on the Sachs unit will be first try I think.
