BMW navigator 1 ( same as street pilot 3) trying to load some maps onto my memory card, and the computer doesn't recognise it - keeps telling me new hardware fitted - what to do

Reload the drivers from the installation discs......for some reason they've dropped out and it doesn't have them.

If there's not an option to reload the drivers, just reinstall the whole lot of software.

Not so simple - I tried and couldn't load it, and it took MickRW over an hour to load/install it all onto my computer, he had a lot of trouble - don't ask me what type of trouble , i'm an IT guru

Put the disks in and run the setup...it should ask you if you want to install, remove or repair........

You want to repair.

If that doesn't work, you'll need to completely uninstall it, reboot, then install it again from scratch.

The Garmin software is a PITA to install but it should go .

Get on the garmin site and down load the latest driver for the programmer, it's different to the one you get with the unit and it works.

If he dosn't get the GPS sorted in Time I'll have to get a couple of T-shirts made up for lachinch...

USB drivers.

Neil, is it a USB card programmer?

I just installed Mapsource 6.7 (cheers for the pointer earlier in the day.) It updated the USB drivers at that point. Might be worth a try. 6.7 seems to be o.k.

You should make sure any usb device is not in use (i.e. unplugged) when you install drivers for them. Then when the thing is plugged in next time it'll go looking for it and find the updated one.

Uninstalled the whole lot - now can't install it properly, and it refuses to accept my unlock code - feck computers .

I have been saved by an IT god - big thanks to the JUDGE :beerjug:
