my bike at 24000 miles has suffered a computer malfunction - initially whilst riding at 70mph I had the brake failure light on with a large red triangle - panic - slowed up tried the brakes, all OK!
I now have no speedometer (most of the time), intermittent failure of the gear inidicator and neutral light, non-selfcancelling indicators.
Took the bike for a 24K service however the technician wasn't in on the day of the service so I'm riding around with a labotomised bike!
If I was sarcastic I would say that the electrics are so complicated that you need to return to the dealer for software uploads - why build an off road bike with such complex controls?
I've tried disconnecting the battery for 15 minutes (worked on my Alfa Romeo car) but obviuosly the Germans aren't fooled by this.
Any ideas? I've replaced the battery 6 weeks ago (the orginal one managed 24000 miles) but thats all. It has a datatool alarm fitted but this has been on the bike for 24000 miles too!!!

Try taking out and cleaning the speed sensor in the final drive. And check the cable for nicks and splits. Have you had anything done to the rear of the bike lately.
The speed sensor would cause 2 of the 3 faults at least. will cause speedo to fail and brake warning light to show as the bike will think you are sitting still.

To take out the sensor you will have to remove the rear wheel and it's between the disc and goes into the final drive, held in by one screw. Probably find it's got small metal filings on.

Been riding near/in water or in heavy rain lately?? The gear position sensor can play up when wet, some bikes are more easily affected than others.

If so, give it and its wiring a damned good spray of WD40 to displace the water.
