Dont know if anyone can help:nenau
My HP computer is pluged in and works ok, But it is not charging on the icon and when i pull the lead it goes of imediatly.
Is the battery fecked:nenau or is it the charger playing up?. It was fine last time i used it... Will the battery just fail like that?????
Thanks R.B

If it works when plugged in to the mains then there's nothing wrong with a) the power lead/transformer, or b) the power supply in your 'puter.

Basically that leaves the battery - usually they 'fade' over time but it is not that uncommon for them to appear to just die on you, especially if you didn't previously use much on battery power.

New battery methinks!

It won't be the battery, they don't just go pop

So don't waste your money buying another, like I did

It will need a new Motherboard

Despite JB's problem, most of the time it's the battery and not the board.

You can help prevent these issues occurring by ensuing that you use your laptop on battery until the battery is completely depleted at least once a month.

I usually manage this by forgetting to turn it off before putting it in my bag.

There is a download on the HP support site that will look at the battery and tell you what it believes the problem is with the battery. If i remember correctly it called HP Support Assistant.
