Bit of a dilemma here folks.
Had the 1150 GS for about six weeks. I think it is ace, and have lavished far too money on her already, nearly all in the aim of making her more comfy for SWMBO, Top box, back rest for top box, Airhawk cushion, (even ordered peg lowering bits from TT...five weeks and counting...still waiting) Here is the dilemma. We had a decent run today, the lakes / moors /etc. BUT...she STILL isn't comfy. I'm gutted, and so fed up I'm thinking of selling the bike.
I've wanted a GS for ages, and yet really enjoy getting out and about with the missus, so dont want to be a solo rider if you understand. Any suggestions? (other than the obvious...sell the wife!!) (Very tempting at times.......)

It's going to cost you money, but get a set of Corbin seats.

As Steve says................try this set-up...........Corbin

My wife doesn't find my 1150GS comfortable either although more so than my previous bikes - GSXR and VFR750. She said it feels slightly better if she sits closer to me and if I have the seat on high, which presumably means I am blocking a little more wind from her. I don't have a tailpack so she also complains that it isn't comfortable having to reach behind her to hold the rail. I have read on other threads that the airhawks take a fair degree of playing around with to get the right level of air in to make them comfortable - maybe that would help?

I've never considered my pillion when buying a bike.

She's had some hard rides ;) So the GS was a relief. She says her arse gets numb after an hour, which is fine as I need a fag every hour and she normally needs a slash.

Works well for us :)

Bikermike,
It is hard what to do for the best, sell bike and change for an RT or Harley, either will cost a packet
Divorce wife, this also will cost a packet, or my advise is get her back on the GS and go for a really long run then she will get used to it,
my Mrs. finds the GS so comfortable that she goes to sleep on the back.......zzzzzzzzzzz
really...
so that is what I would do the GS is a great ride for the pillion as well as the rider.
Good luck...
Barrie

Thanks

Thanks all. Over the last few years we have had a Pan Euro 1100, and a Goldwing 1500, so yep, she has been well and truly spoiled for pillion comfort. The 'Wing was truly a milemuncher, and she regularly fell asleep on that, but I'll risk abuse from 'Wing owners, when I say it wasn't a "bikers bike" if you know what I mean? Been there got the t-shirt...time to move on. I've wanted a GS for ages, but the 1200 was too pricey for me and when the 1150 was seen in the showroom we BOTH fell in love. But, I think she's expecting 'Wing comfort, and theres no-way I'm returning down that road, I'd rather give up biking than that.
I'll give the peg lowering kits a chance (if they EVER turn up that is!!), but if they fail, then I don't want to spend MORE cash buying Corbins in the hope that that will solve the problem (some Pan owner bought Corbins' and then flogged them because they were so dissapointed). Thanks again for allowing me to vent my dissapointment.:(

You could have the seat modified / customised by Tony Archer in Huddersfield for a fraction of the cost of a Corbin, and, IMHO, you'd get a much better product.

Tony Archer

Thanks..forgot about Tony. Had our Pan seat altered by him, (to stop the wife sliding forward, a common complaint on standard Pan seats), might give him a ring.
