My email reply from the equivalent of the AA reads the swedish report as a good thing for motorcyclists

Thank you for your email in regard to wire rope barriers and motorcycle impacts. I attach a conference paper that was presented late last year on this issue. The paper notes that steel W-beam barriers are more aggressive to motorcyclists than wire rope barriers and that the installation of wire rope barriers in Sweden has shown a reductions in motorcycle fatalities. The paper also notes that more research is needed in Australia to evaluate the interaction of wire rope barriers and motorcycles due to the very low number of relevant crashes.
NRMA is awaiting further research. However, it is already clear from crash investigation data that wire rope is less aggressive to motorcyclists than W-beam barriers.
