occasionally get what appears to be condensation behind the outer screen of my 2610. looks rather like a finger smudge at first glance, but if you warm it up with your finger it goes away, or it goes away on it's own eventually.

anyone else seen anything like it?

same here mine does it aswell

Yup, mine does it too. Mine's the "motorrad" version. I'm going to raise it with the dealer next time I'm there, particularly as it's only a couple of months old. A friend of mine has one which is considerably older and has never experienced the problem on his.

Stored my 2610 in the glove compartment on my Pan and probably cooked it for a 3 hour journey. Thereafter for quite some time there was a cloudy oblong area accross the screen!

Thought I'd properly knackered it, but it fasded with use and careful storage thereafter...

I have had three BMW Navigator 2 and this condensation has happened with all three - the latest just happened on Saturday.

It seems to occur when there has been some rain on the gps and then it has direct sunlight on the screen. It does not seem to occur when the sun is not directly shining on to the screen

Daren't contact the dealer as they will think it is me.

Garmin marine gps sets are filled with dry nitrogen and sealed. They dont steam up.
I would have thought that the 2610 would be the same, so any sort of misting would mean sending back to Garmin for repair. The sevice dept is very good

just spoken to garmin. they say put it in the airing cupboard for a while & that should get rid of the problem, but condensation comes & goes on mine. it spends most of it's life tucked up indoors in the warm.

any recurrent problem should be looked at by them, possible replacement.

My 6210 started showing condensation behind the touch screen, but only in cold weather with the unit on the bike - I tried and failed to replicate the behaviour by powering up and putting the 6210 in the fridge !. Took a picture on a cold early morning run showing the condensation, to explain the problem to the sales staff.

Anyway, after 6 months of ownership, Maplins have exchanged it for a brand new one, no hassle. (now with the latest V7 software).

I'm glad I spent a few quid more with a high street dealer who I can go and see the 'whites of his eyes' if there's a problem, rather than an anonymous E trader. Imagine the hassle with comms and postage I might have had trying to do this exchange with an E trader? Is it worth trying to save that last ten quid ?

Regards,

Graham

no problem for me. garmin are 10 mins down the road :)

haven't seen any condensation on mine for a while. must be the warmer weather.
