A conversation in another place without a definitive resolution at the moment.

Apparently, the UK configurator has a curious anomaly for a sports touring bike. To use the BMW luggage, it is obvious you have to request the hardware in the luggage pack for £1060 (no boxes included!)

If you want the £3140 performance pack with posh suspension, RWB paint, posh seat & wheels and stickier tyres, it is not possible to also have the touring pack.

Currently, dealers have not been able to offer a firm view on whether this is a glitch in the configurator or a BMW design feature.

If you get an answer, or notice a change on the website, please update the thread.

It would appear that the performance pack model is not designed to be a Sports Tourer ( with hard luggage) it is a true Sports Bike.
So you cannot put hard luggage on this particular model as it was never designed to take it.
You may not agree with BMWs thought process but I think that is the reason. It is not a glitch on the configurator

My money is on a glitch. With the 1250 they did not have proper photos of some colours so used some shonky overlays done by someone with crayons. The configurator will mature once someone other than the IT intern develops it

Good find (y)
I have seen one of the Performance Pack models in a dealer. Having gone through the Configurator with the Salesman I was ( as is the case with many) left confused by it all.
To add to my confusion, if you start to look at what is in dealers, virtually all of them are the Performance. The lack of luggage rather restricts that particular colour/model. The RS was never mainstream, a bit Marmite. Owners loved them. I can’t see this helping

R1300RS Performance with panniers

...After much lurking and watching prices. I found the Unicorn (for me). A fully loaded Performance model with panniers all installed official BMW by the dealership. Wired. Lights etc.
