Can anyone confirm the following.

I am looking at using my 2610 with my autocom active 7.

I will be using the Garmin lockable mount and hardwiring the cable to the bike.

The cables I think I need are 010-10495-02 Garmin power cable.
Autocom adaptor cable part 172.

Is this all I need or have I missed something?

Cheers Baz

I think that you've got that spot-on.

However, if you want to have music as well, you need a splitter/interface lead for connecting two sources into a single Autocom input. This lead is a bit special and Autocom don't list it but DO supply it if required. Speak to Doug Sant at Autocom if you need it.

Thanks Greg,

I dont think I need the extra lead as i already have a music input.
THe autocom lead should plug into the 5 pin aux socket. The music should play & mute as the voice nav kicks in similar to normal speech.

I take it there will be a socket on the power lead that the autocom plugs into?

That's what the lead looks like - I think that that is what you were hoping for?

Two Autocom - Garmin connection options, via music input or via 5-pin din (grey plug).

However be advised if you ever plan to add bike2bike you'll need to go the music input route (and the double connector Greg mentioned previously).

What's special about the Garmin splitter plug then???

Apart from the ludicrous price.....I did buy one but it appears to be esxactly the same as a 1.99 stereo splitter from Maplins!

The item that I have is like the Autocom Garmin cable in that it has a transformer in it - actually two, one on each arm of the 'Y'. By using this arrangement, no single item is hard connected to another. Works OK on my bike!
