Connecting Autocom to Zumo?

Red Rock, if your running a Kit 300 mate you would have a part 1299 fitted which will be full stereo.

The Part 1300's are for our older systems, Pro-7's Active-7's etc where the lead plugs in via the phone sockets which run in a split mono set up.

Dave, if you are still struggling with volume with the Zumo then even if the master volume is turned up full the next step would be to have the system back to us so we can tweak the audio up a bit more on the Zumo. So this will improve the Zumo volume but not affect the rider to pillon volume or anything else that is plugged in.

Hi Rich

I will experiment a bit more with the autocom volume first and will get back to you if I am still having a problem. Not sure when this will be as we are not using the bike much at present!

volume from Zumo

Hi Rick

The other day you mentioned sending my Autocom unit back to you for you to alter the volume level of my Garmin Zumo voice messages (using part 1300). Is this something I can do myself or if not how much will it cost and aprox how long will it take to do?

Thanks

Dave

Dave, to save you a lot of time and effort it would be better for you to send your system back to us as we know the circuit boards, have the correct parts and by us carrying out the work if you have any warranty left on your system this will not be affected.

Rich......not Rick lol

Hi Rich

I am going to try the mod from the Zumo 550 forum 'How to modify TTS voices to make them louder' first. But would like to know the time scale and cost if I send my unit back to you:nenau

I am really beaten by my Zumo and Autocom pro 7 sport

I have used my faithful Garmin Quest for 2 years and loved it, but decided to treat myself to a Zumo to accompamy my new GSA, but so far I am losing battles with it.

BMW dealer (not an Autocom agent) swapped my pro 7 sport onto my new GSA and wired Zumo in using part 1200. I can hardly hear any voice directions and with bluetooth Ericsson phone, I can make calls from Zumo and receive then, but others cannot hear my speech. Rider to Pillion is OK

I consulted Autocom yesterday and they told me that part 1200 is only for the newer units and that I NEED part 1300.

When part 1300 arrived, I was excited and thought all of my probs would be solved... how wrong, it has made no difference whatsoever

I still disappointefd with a Zumo which I cannot hear, and phone calls for which I cannot talk

Music volume is fine and rider to Pillion volume is fine
All leads are firmly pushed in and part 1300 is connected to Aux 2
Both Zumo volume controls are at max
Everything works faultlessly in the car mount

Autocom suggested sending part 1300 back for mic output testing, but I cannot believe that it is faulty

Can anyone offer any helpful suggestions ?

GSA is fab btw:D

I had loads of problems with my setup of Autocom and Zumo in the beginning. Seem to have them all ironed out now. Mainly thanks to Steve at Southport Superbikes.

Volume isnt an issue aanymore and generally dont have it set at max - nearer three quarters. However have been told that this is due to mp3 being recorded at lower levels. Apparently due to risk of damaging ears these things are recorded at lower levels these days to protect our ears? If you get a conversion program such as itunes you can rerecord at 200% volume and then its all better. No idea how true the lower volume thing is but I did the 200% upgrade and now can happily blow my ears out at 80plus.

Still have issues with the mike picking up the wind noise over about 90 but being a good boy dont do that kind of speed anyway.

Havent got much experience of the phone, only used it twice, both times somebody rang me, both times at slow speed, both times nearly crashed. Figure I wont be going for third time lucky. Bloody nokia battery only lasts about 6 minutes with bluetooth on anyway.

Tonight I have tried another bluetooth phone, after talking to Garmin today. Still connects OK and dials etc, but nobody can hear me talking from my autocom microphones.

Part 1300 has gone back for testing

No joy yet :(
