Toxteth scouser, made good ..now hiding on Wirral
Just bought myself a splendid cafe racer and have a few ideas for it. However, it is a 1977 R80 and possibly a little bitsa etc.
Anyone know what model it could be ( I believe R80/7 ) so when I order any bits, they should fit !! Hasn't been on the road for about 5 years so
will need fettling/servicing etc.
Probably fit slightly higher bars, acewell speedo etc. Picking her up about Thursday and really looking forward to it TBH :) Any positive ideas appreciated.s-l1600 (4).jpg

Is it not going too suck in crap from the rear wheel..
Ie.no mudguard when caught out in a shower,it's going too suck in water.....plus dust on a dry day...?

The flat top carbs say R80/7 to me.

Think I’ve got some stock bar clamps if you still need them.

1977,hmm
Flat top carbs 👍
Early timing case👍
However,no mechanical tacho on the clocks, can’t see drive cable from engine,
More photos needed
Have a few more photos ( bike still far end of Liverpool)

Brought her home last night. Needs fettling and a good service. 👍 Ignition light doesn't illuminate on dash when ignition is turned on, hopefully (as electrics are not my strong point ) someone will tell me what causes that ( Rotor? )
I intend to put higher s/s clip ons and also a s/s top yoke and s/s steering damper knob !! ( Mrs reckons just ride the bugger !! ) few pics early this morning before going on the ramp.

Re above electrics....haven't had much time today to look at her properly but on re-charging the battery, spotted this rectifier underneath !!! Should
be interesting what is under the tank and behind front cover ! Probably why there is no charging light !!

The frame number will give you the exact model (of the frame). The engine number will give you the exact model of the engine.

So, ordered a nice black top yoke from Kevil's Speedshop ( amazing how many of these suppliers suddenly don't have the item in stock ) some almost straight drag bars
and a few other little goodies. Hopefully after a good service and mooch around the electrics I can then sort the front steering out. May fit some YSS rear shocks if they are needed.
Also, although tyre tread is unworn, the ageing tyrewall cracks are frightening !! Maybe TKC 80's are the way to go......

Should be interesting swopping stuff around; do a Burt Munroe on the tyre cracks; use Kiwi polish; :D :beerjug:

Love the Bert Munroe . Probably TKC80's 👍
Anyways, took tank off, headlight out ( nothing but headlamp wiring in there ) and still nowhere nearer understanding the wiring:D
No time to take the front cover off. Been mucking about fitting stainless bolts etc. Needs a new (1977 ) black and white number plate as one on it is a little small
and Welsh gestapo would have me !!
