I normally do all my bike trips either earlier or later in the year, but I broke my wrist back at the end of March and that put pay to three trips I had planned.

Cast's now long off and I've been working with a physio to get it sorted... now getting itchy to get a trip planned

I've read reports in the past of mass vacation times in France, travelling earlier or later, I've never worried about booking accomodation and ended up staying in some stunning places, but what's it like July-August?

I'm toying with the idea of the 26th/27th to 30th/31st, looking online it doesn't look like that weekend is a significant one for public holidays or anything

Not overly stressed, just curious.

lots will be ending their vacance around then and heading home.
i'd avoid dense population areas.
for comparison, if it were U.K. i'd head for Cornwall / avoid London. :thumb2

hope this makes sense.

Cheers Ogmios, that's kind of the plan as much as there is one...

Probably ferry over to Le Havre or St Malo and bimble down to the Loire or beyond from there for a couple of days

Hope so, but don't be.

I bust my wrist at the end of March and missed out on three books and planned trips so far :(

I consoled myself with the fact each trip started with my mates heading off in really foul weather, so Karma would suggest there will Hurricanes and Earthquakes in the region just waiting for my arrival ;) still it'll be great to get away; I've just got to workout what raft of new and stupid requirements there are for riding abroad now :aidan

Then you'd better take note of even more French traffic regulations then, Hi Viz, breathalyser kits and now this one..........

Whatever next?

Geoff

lol... very good, I'm surprised someone posted that without fear of giving them too many ideas...

btw, Hi-Viz doesnt come in until next year from what I've read, the AA have a useful doc here

Interesting thing about the Hi-Viz, 150cm2 isnt that big, both my Rucka jackets have reflective stuff on the arms covering an area that size, not sure it counts though :(
