Not so wallowy

I'm only 75kg, but I found I had to turn the dampener almost all the way in to tune out the wallowing on my GSA. I didn't find the GS as bad, so try ramping it up. Near the end of the adjustment a tiny amount of a turn will have a big effect, while at the start you can do a whole turn and barely notice it (ie its not linear).

I believe the 1200 models with standard supsension are way too compromised by trying to cope for all possible riders, weights and abilities: too firm a front spring with a coarse range of preload adjustment steps and poor damping, and too soft a rear spring with a decent range of preload adjustment and reasonable damping.

I fitted Wilbers replacement shocks (with springs optimised for me and fully adjustable preload and damping) and was amazed at the transformation. Maybe the same setup could work for you ?

As for the surging issue, I agree with everyones comments about being in a lower gear for engine flexibility.
