Contacting a person at the dealership - WTAF?

I'm looking to change my car and was offered a good deal with a relatively local dealer through something called Carwow.
I rang the dealer this morning and rather than getting through direct to the dealer as I expected I got a centralised call centre.
I explained why I was calling and was then put through to 'Central Sales' where I, again, had to explain the reason for my call.
'Central Sales' advised that they couldn't help and would put me through to the dealership direct before changing their mind and advising that they would get the dealership to call me within 10 minutes.
This process of non achievement took 15 minutes.
My call was at 11:30 and I still haven't heard anything.
And this is for a £40k car.

Vertu. No surprise whatsoever.

We had a similar situation buying my wife's Mercedes. Called the Ashford dealership but this went through to the dealer's central office. Explained what we wanted (we had done lots of research and were pretty sure what our requirements were) and they agreed to get someone to call us back. We got two calls back, each saying they'd ask the local dealer to call us.

No call the following day, so we took the old fashioned route and went to the dealership. To be fair, they were very helpful. After a bit of haggling over p-ex price we signed on the dotted line. Car collected a few days later.

Three weeks later we were still getting calls from the head office asking if they could help and did we want any more details on the car we had been interested in.

Calling from abroad often means they don't answer the phone to me...so in an attempt to ensure that importing my Honda to the UK goes smoothly (headlights passing MOT etc) I emailed Honda France, Honda UK and 3 UK Honda dealers. Honda France say its a Honda UK question answer. HONDA UK say Nah mate, bikes french, speak to them. None of the 3 dealers have bothered to answer a simple question sent on their dedicated "Contact us" page. "Can I get either an MOT done based on frame and engine number to prove to DVLA that the headlight conforms..or will they do a note on headed paper stating the same."
I've now sold the Honda in France and will be buying something other than a Honda in the UK in the coming weeks. (Altho I suspect they're all just as shite)

I’ve had no trouble getting through to my Wartburg dealer. They’re proper friendly, if a bit hard to understand. 👍
