Conti Road attack 3

Just had mine fitted today . I'll post my thoughts on the Conti's after a few days with them...

(Have sadly lost some interest in my GS after riding the awesome K1600 loan bike though !)

Cant wait for the update....... But a K1600 ...may as well drive a car , your stuck in a plastic bubble , no real riding pleasure ( for me that is) rode one once , almost fell asleep everyone to their own tho

Conti Road Attack 3

Sorry just realised I've got Conti Trail Attack 2

R1200GSA LC

Great tyres. They came with my bike. I've done about 22000 miles one them. (Not one set of course) and found no reason to change.

Steers well. Grips well. Good feed back.

Cheers

If I have a choice I always go for conti s . Used all different types on all bikes and can't fault them

Stick, I agree with you. ( I wouldnt have agreed this morning, but i do now)

I have done a few hundred miles on it ... In the beginning I was totally overwhelmed by the smooth powerful and fantastic sounding 160HP engine.
I loved the way it handled ( slow and fast) , loved the storage, the toys such as the reverse gear, the electric screen and even the radio ( which was crystal clear at 75 mph)
First bike I've ridden that didnt require you to use ear plugs.

Even at £20500 (loaner has all the kit) , I'd have purchased it immediately if someone had stopped me after 1 hour on it ......

But; At the end of the day, its not as playful as a GS. Not exciting , not multidimensional in it's character.
I'm looking forward to handing it back, its charms have waned like a pretty girl that turned out to be "high maintenance" and slightly disappointing.

(Conti 3 report later )

Funny

I was just looking at those myself along with Roadtec 01s

Will be interested by folks experiences

I too am about to change and the bike specific local tyre fitter I contacted said the 01s were not recommended by Metzler-they recommended the tourance nexts as they have a stiffer carcase than the 01s which (they say) helps the suspension work better. He also said that until the end of July Metzler were offering a £30 prepaid credit card too:beerjug:

With respect you dont seem to know what you're talking about. Until recently I owned a K1600GT as well as a GSA. They are very different bikes with different strengths and weaknesses but one thing is for sure, the K16 gives as much riding pleasure in its own way as a GS/GSA. The 6 cylinder engine is a joy to use unlike the box of spanners fitted in the GS/GSA and the K16's handling is remarkable considering its size and weight. Oh yes and you can read the instruments unlike on the GS/GSA

Don't know, I put the GS bike model into the tyre selector on the Metzeler page and the 01s came up in the list

Maybe yer man's got some stock to shift

You may be right, though he did say he'd fit whichever I chose, but if it was his choice he'd fit the next's-they're cheaper too:D

Littleade who you using ? please I am near you don't think roadtec o1 for me now thinking it's between scorpion trail 2 or road attack 3

As lots of people rate both !
Roadtec o1 sounds like awsome tyre but my loaded two up gsa will rip the middles out! As some not getting great miles out and they are £20-30 more than the other two

Well Luther ...unexpectedly ....so have I !

This evening, I carefully fuelled and handed back the dealers gorgeous loan bike (an amazing K1600), paid my £354 and road home on my GS in the drizzle.

I popped my R1200GS in the garage to wipe it down and admire my new tyres. I'm astonished to see, they have fitted Trail Attack 2 NOT the requested new 2017 Road Attack 3

I'm not sure what the difference is ... but I'm miffed with them!

It was put in writing that I wanted Road Attack 3 (since they were the German test winners) and the dealer did reply on Monday by email acknowledging my request ! I like things to be in black and white ! (no room for error , I hoped !)

I'm glad I took that step. They will have to change them.

I can do without the trips to and from the dealer ... Why dont people do things properly these days??
