To be honest I am (for now) thinking about riding to ceuta on my original tourances and then swopping them over to the new TCKs that I currently have in my garage at home

If you have trouble fitting them yourself, there's a Suzuki garage in Ceuta called "Casa Suzuki", right next to the first roundabout as you come off the ferry.

Really nice guys and a Tapas bar opposite.

They fitted a new rear to Jim-Adv's Dakar when we were there the first time after he'd worn his rear tyre out and wanted something to replace it.

ceuta

jon, thanks for that info, i will travel down with the spare rear on my panniers and get the suzook garage to fit it. cheers martin

Idea for the future, I'm renting a place at the moment in Casares which is about 45mins from Gibraltar and 1:30hrs from Tarifa.. if I had a stock of TKC 80's maybe 4 fronts and 4 rears would anyone be interested in stopping by and changing tyres at my place leaving their Road tyres there and then picking them up on the way home?

I'm only there every other month but my wife will be there most of the time..

Just an idea, what do you guys think.

After about a year we plan to buy somewhere in the same area, this should include a garage big enough to do some repair work if needed or maybe store stuff not required on the trip. and maybe even some kind of guest house, basic room and bored...would I get any customers? :beerjug: Lickardo

Count me in as a future b&b AND tyre store customer, Richard. What an excellent idea.

Until Richard Stallard gets his tyre/B&B spot up and running, another excellent alternative would be to get down as far as Ouarzazate (you'll probably still be on tar to that point anyway) and call in at the Biker's Home.

Quite apart from being a really friendly spot with a homely feel and excellent cooking.... Peter has a well equipped garage where you can do all the mucking about you require and I'm quite sure he'd store your road tyres for a while too.

In fact, maybe even call Peter before you go - last time I was there he was offering excellent part-used tyres from the KTM hire place in town for about 20 Euros each... might be worth seeing whether he could hold something in your size???? (I'm talking about tyres...)
