conversion to GS

Kia Ora guys. I've just been recommended this site & it's great - very informative. I've been a long time fan of the classic look of airheads & feel like a kid in a toy shop.

I am after information regarding converting an old RT or similar to a GS. There seem to be many old airheads coming up for sale at quite reasonable prices over here & was curious to the viability of changing the front end etc to bring it to similar specs as a GS.
I'm tossing up the idea as a project for (our) winter.
I have tried the search button however have not come up with anything yet.

If there are any rebuilds or conversion threads that I could be directed to it would be appreciated.

Hi, seen you on the Kiwi site too. Best place for help and info.
Hope you come right with the RT, great opportunity for a twinshock mono. Maybe too much frame modification needed if you want to do something like this.

Blimey, converting an RT or ( gasp ) an RS etc to a G/s is a big project...literally the old ' how long is a piece of string ' and you would probably end up paying more to convert than abiding your time and looking for a genuine g/s ( or the nearest to a g/s, the st )

Different gearing; different suspension; different carbs; battery; wheels; bodywork; h/bars; lighting etc etc . RS and RT are best converted to cafe racers etc IMHO.

Still, if you start the project... we can learn from you
