Converting standard rear/tail & indicator lights to LEDs....advice required please

Be careful with just fitting a clear rear lens ... the standard lens has a clear "window" at the bottom to illuminate the number plate, if you fit a clear lens with a red bulb you lose your clear illumination for the number plate!

Stu.

i"d fit the BMW OEM LED unit. it's sealed and avoids the corrosion and dodgy connection issues of the old incandescent fitting.

3 TLAs in row. do i get a prize?

Oh well done.......speshul prize in the post to you......bnige

I can't see how that one is going to illuminate the number plate if the LED's are red :nenau Before I went LED I fitted a clear lens and a red bulb ..... :blast

I'd stick to the OEM version though, it's what you'd prefer to have fitted the day you decide to sell the bike!

I'll either go for an LED insert which is canbus compatible, or look for a used OEM, cos new they're £164 and I'm pushing my budget boundaries.....:blast

Hi Keith
i know me and you have been sending pms but i can't send pics in a pm
heres a couple of better pics to show what it looks like fitted with OEM parts cos my original pic isn't very clear
i know all people have different tastes - but i was really pleased with the end result
those indicators are so bright its hard to look straight at them when they are flashing
and when they are off they sort of blend back into the bike compared to the large originals

Thx Gaz....OEM indicators (2nd hand set) have been bought; it's just the tail light that remains.

A new one is £164.71 (plus £52.20 fitting & programming)
A 2nd hand tail light & adaptor lead is £62 (from Motorworks)
An LED insert plate is £48 which works (apparently) from go

I may well go the 2nd hand route for this as well.....

For the sake of £14, go for the oem light Keith.:thumb

If you run out of money, I could get the next brekkie.:D

Is someone having a laugh?

It only needs the plastic deck beneath the rear seat removing to get to the wiring IIRC.

I thought they were plug and play ? (otherwise I should have a recoding option on my GS 911 ??)

That's the info I was given from a main dealer yesterday......

The bits that I've found are P & P.....:D

I've found it ...

As far as I'm aware it's the same unit for all years;

Sorry, no spare cable;

YHM!

Warning: That 07 GSA Ebay part number 63 21 7 714 557 comes up on Google as an F800 unit.
