Converting std R80 to off road (GS) spec

:augie

Just been for a shuffle through my secret stash.

Pair of Police wires, Twin shock sub frame, Swinging arm and driveshaft, Bevel box, all the spindles and brake shoes. There's a couple of swinging arms and sub frames to choose from. There's an earlier front end as well (yolks, forks etc) that takes the ATE calipers.

That sub frames pretty messy but the other is in fine condition.

I'm not sure if the Twin shock swinging arm is a straight fit in the Mono R80 frame. I think it is.

Pity you aren't closer.

That sounds a great idea to me - I like the idea of a twin shocker (I take it the twin shock is a quite robust back end unlike the para?).

and if you lean the shockers forward [mounting points right at junction] you end up with a Syco copy frame :thumb

ROB what size is the twin disc wheel you got languishing there ??? :augie:augie

I might need that :augie

Instead of trying to track down expensive hard to get parts why not just fit a twin shock swinging arm and subframe. You can then buy a cheap ex police wire rear wheel You will then have a large range of cheap readily available bevel boxes to choose from.

Keep the standard downpipes and look for alternative small silencers - Harley slip on's or similar.

Psycomotos bike looks great with it's twin shock backend.

I have a mate with what was an ex police R80RT mono. The idea looks tempting:D

Why do you think it's sitting in my garage Proff? Ready for my Mono :) It's a 19" so the rim needs to go. I've got a hub without a rim though. Not sure if it's a narrow or wide one. I'll let you know when I dig it out.

I love it when a plan comes together! :D

After seeing pictures of that bike I don't think I can pass up the opotunity to build myself something... might not be anywhere near the same standard as that one.. but I'm going to have to give it a go!

Good man!
And make sure you tell us how you do it, cos I'd love to have a go at something similar myself :thumb
