Convoy to the Ace Cafe on the 2nd....

I'm going to bed now lads........

See you all tomorrow at 10 am.

10.30am: The run over the hills and back will take about 45 mins of twistiness, did it on my own today in 30 mins (23 miles)

Get back to Newlands, re group and off at 11.30 for the ACE.

This should be a riot if not a complete balls up- either way it'll be fun:bounce1

Don't forget to gas up before getting to Newlands.

Good night..........:thumb2

better late than never

Late I know:o

Is there room for another 2 tomorrow, will make it to Newlands sometime in the morning - me and the wife.

Loud and dirty 12GS (twin Akra exhaust) and silver honda hornet.

If we make it in timw for the Boxhill loop - great, otherwise - great as well.

This'll be the 1st time meeting fellow tossers, so be gentle. Guess it will be difficult to miss 30+ GS's. Also the 1st time to the Ace.:confused:

Wife passed her test 6 months ago, I'm sure she will GS herself soon.:thumb2

Til morning, Simon & Mareli.:beerjug::beerjug:

The object of the day is to have some fun, enjoy riding as a group and get to the ACE cafe safely and make some new friends.
We will be setting off for a quick blast over the downs to Boxhill roundabout, around the roundabout and back where we will regroup before setting off for the Ace Cafe.
We will be using the drop off system where the lead bike, that’s me, will signal at junctions to whoever is behind me, i.e. the second bike to wait and direct by their indicator and a hand signal if appropriate where I have turned. You wait on the side of the road, engine running looking behind.
The rider will stop and wait for all but the anchor rider to pass him or her before moving off. The third bike then becomes second and is the next to stop and indicate at the following junction. Make progress and keep an eye on the lead bike if you are second. If the lead bike has moved out of site, do not worry as I will slow at the next junction and indicate where you should stop and signal. Make sure you remember what the anchor bike looks like so that you move off quickly once he has spotted you. You then can either stay in your position or make progress up through the group.
Because we are using the drop off system, you may overtake your fellow riders and make it towards the front if you wish. This gives the opportunity of faster riders to make progress and keep the whole group moving. Do not at anytime overtake the lead bike, if there is a problem come along side and flag me down to slow and stop. If in the unlikelihood the lead bike and second bike has stopped then all must slow and stop behind.
Respect your fellow riders and do not show off by doing ‘stunts’ like wheelies. If you are a slower bike make room for the faster bike that is behind you to overtake. Overtaking should be done safely and quickly, make sure you have time to complete the manoeuvre and do not rely on the bike in front to wave you on. Overtake when it is safe to do so.
On main roads and motorways use the stagger when following the bike in front. Do not snake. This gives you better vision ahead and is a lot safer.
Remember we have different riding skills and experience so respect your fellow riders in the group.
Try to make good progress but allow other bikers to overtake within the group.
Do not worry if a biker or ‘car’ that is not part of the convoy gets in between you and the rider in front/behind, just make sure you keep track of the bike in front and concentrate at junctions.
Respect the speed limits, in particular going through, towns and villages. 30 is NOT 40, and 40 is NOT 50....
The Boxhill loop is 95% National speed limit on a rural road.
Ride safe, and see you all tomorrow. Late comers welcome.
10am Meet Newlands
10.25 Briefing
10.30 Boxhill roundabout loop, using drop off system.

Captain,

Sorry, but as you no doubt noticed I didn't make it. Mrs-P has had her op and is back at home, but she's feeling very tired, so I couldn't really leave her. I spent the day cleaning the bike instead :blast.

Hope you all had a great day and that the weather held off. I will make the next one!

Great ride out Captain - well done and thanks for your troubles. Loved the little route to Box and back :thumb2. Managed a nice little blast on the way back from the loop following you.

Nice to put faces to names. I know I met att (actually a very nice man :D), Sani, Gazza, Roy and others.

............all the bikes look suspiciously clean to me though........

Couple of piccies:
