Cool Base Layers

You’ve mentioned that you wear leather trousers, they might be supple and comfortable to wear but I can’t see them being breathable in same way as say pair of riding jeans would.

Leathers vary considerably. My perforated kangaroo leathers – superb in spring and summer – are light, breathable and even comfier than my single-layer jeans. I reach for the ‘roo at the first ray of sunshine.

In contrast, my BMW Atlantis leathers are neither ventilated nor the nicest in the heat. But they’re brilliant when it’s cool or wet.

Try Klim Aggressor "CoolCore" base layers. They do long and short tops and bottoms. Motolegends stock them.

I also use the Mountain Warhorse "IsoCool" tops and they are very good. And cheap.

Another pro skins user. Wear them all the time and they control temp very well. BSB riders were using them a few years ago.

For summer / hot weather i use a pair of Rab Merino/ bamboo blend and they are just the job

While I love merino base layers wear them most of the year, I find them too warm for very hot weather 🥵

It depends on the thickness/weight. there are various options to ensure you have the right ones for the right season.

watch the content of wool , some has only 10%
i normally buy when they have a sale , have a hunt around .

I find those with 15% polyester wear better

pure merino seems to cling more to velcro on knee & Hip pockets and then unpick to leave a hole

I have some ultra-lightweight merino with an open mesh structure. But even they are too warm for the hottest days in the saddle.

Thanks. I may try their latest tech to feel if it lives up to the hype.
