Corbin front seat - rear seat problems

To relieve the numb bum syndrome, I bought a Corbin front saddle for my 2001 1150 GS, paid nearly £280 quid for it, waited 2 months for delivery - it arrived last week and guess what? Now the b****y rear seat won't fit on! The Corbin saddle comes back a good two inches further than the standard one.

Can anyone recommend a solution? If I was to fork out another squidillion spondooleys on a Corbin rear saddle, I strongly suspect I'd no longer be able to get the Givi Monokey box on the back.

Should I modify the rear saddle myself, or are there kits, or other after market seats. Or should I just send back the Corbin (I don't know how I'd break the news to my bum, though)

Guess you didn't read the Corbin info before you bought...

I bit the bullet and bought the two. £££... Don't know about the Givi, but it fits the BMW topcase. It's a tight fit, shouldn't work, but the Corbin guy said it worked on some bikes, depending on tolerances. The case is slowly chewing it's way through the vinyl back of the passanger seat, but I don't really care.

Perhaps a local saddle maker can cut the plastic base for you and reupholster? I chose to keep it original, so that I can keep the Corbin if I ever sell the bike.

I do believe the Andover baker had his corbin seat on with the OE rear just last Sunday on the rideout. Either that or the Andover baker's son spent the hour sitting on the Wunderlich plate

Sorry to correct you Andy, but had to put the old BMW set on as the guy says they don`t fit together.

Front Corbin

There is no way on earth that a Corbin front will fit with a stock BMW rear seat on a GS.

The Corbin is about 50% bigger than the standard BMW front seat.................so it's only an option to ride solo with the Corbin front....................or buy a pair..............as Corbins were designed to go together.

If you go ahead and buy a Corbin rear...............it will fit with a Givi toplate,with a bit of sculpting modification (and covering sharp edges in rubber trim to avoid cutting into rear Corbin) to the metal base plate and then moving the plastic base plate,one notch further back.

I have an E460 Givi box (for occasional touring use............I may add............bloody top boxes...........!!!) and it fits with a rear Corbin............but it's a tight fit...............

I have a corbin (front and rear) with a givi maxi box. As has been said, I had to move the rack back one set of holes to get it to fit, although no resculpting of anything needed. I'm a bit wary of putting too macu weight in the box since the leverage will now be greater since the overhang is longer.

Equinox are the UK distributer though send Lord Snooty a PM as he had a cunning way of getting a local dealer to acquire his seats at trade money.

As I understand it the backrests are good, if they are as good as the seats they are brilliant, if damned expensive

The backrest hardware that is - the seat is good value, especially for the comfort

Thanks for that - I guess I should have asked the forum first! Because I tend to have heavy-ish loads in the top box (laptop computer, change of clothes, etc, I think I'll try to hack the original rear seat and stick with that. If necessary, I can always but a new rear if I sell the bike.

A warning to those short of leg.

I borrowed a Corbin seat for a few weeks and although it was by far the most comfortable seat I've used on any bike I couldn't touch the ground due to it being wider and harder than standard
