For anybody riding in the Cevennes area, this is a must. It's the D9 and runs between Florac and St Jean du Gard, 50 odd kms of pure heaven and spectacular scenery.

Going that way on June 2nd, leaving on May 26th to Pyrennes.
Planned to do this loop from Millau, Gorge de Tarn -Mende-Ales-Pont de Guard and then back through the G-De-Cevennes to Meyruieis then back to the G-De-Tarn. Looked good on the Mich Maps so I thought I would give it a go. You have just made me smile, as its good to know in advance that it will be worth the long ride out! :thumb :D
Is it a French typical gorge, with lots of overhanges nicely carved into the side of the rock? Any pics to wet my appetite :clap

Having lived in France for the past 10 years, Mrs P and I have had many opportunities to explore the best that France can offer, from Corsica to the far North and if it's narrow gorges with dramatic cliff overhangs that you want, then try the Gorges de la Bourne in the Vercors.

+1 for the Vercors, don't forget the Combe Laval and Col de Rousset as well as the Gorges de la Bourne - a good base is Hotel le Marronnier in Recurel.
