Mapsource 4.1? BOLLOX! You've just bought the damned thing - get on the blower or electric telegraph to Garmin Support and get them to send you V5 CD's gratis - Costco must've been sitting on those pups a while.

No way! I bought mine 2 days before Bob at Reading Costco- mine is version 5?
If that is the case Bob get it to me pronto and I will get down there and jump and down and get the correct one.

No, no, no! V4.10 is the Mapsource program version. It's very confusing. but the mapsource program is up to V 5.0 AND your mapping CD-ROM has V 5.0 mapping on it.

Spanish B, you need to download the latset Mapsource version from the Garmin website. All free, gratis.
I check the site every month or so. You will not be able to read a file with a version older than the one posted.

It opens for me OK.

Bloody useless, you lot. :p :p :p

Mr M

I have downloaded the street pilot III software from august 4th 2003 (version 2.5), but cant find map source updates anywhere, where is it then?

OK here we are - I've dug out a beta from here, loaded up my back-up PC with this Beta (not wishing to play Russian Roulette with my working set-up). Then opened Einstein's Cervennes off road track and voila!

Have fun, and Bob I'll add the fee to your account :thumb

Actually its not a beta anymore but a fully fledged release as at 11/07/03. Before smart arse comes up and corrects me :D

Howard

I had planned to do this one - on the Michelin 240 (1:200k) it just shows as a "dangerous road"! It appears that you went up o the Col de l´homme mort, wnet on a bit further, but then I am not sure. Did you carry on to Dourbie, head east to the D48 or did you take a route back to the D999. It appears that you went close to the D48 but not quite.

Cheers & any other must dos/sees for the area would be appreciated. I am off on Weds eve and return on SUnday.

OK folks,
I thought it was clear that I had both ; V5.0 Mapsource AND V5.0 mapping.
To get the latest Mapsource program, go to the Garmin website and look under "Software updates", scroll down the list and you'll see "Mapsource" in amongst all the varoius gps units listed.

The file I posted does have extra waypoints. These were for the route that I had planned to ride. However, when I reached the top of the hill, I found the track that I wanted was blocked by a barrier. I rode down to the D48. Turned round and went back to the top. (The track to the D48 is mostly tarmac) Then went down to the D336.
The first track from WP "TRACK NORTH" is fairly easy and well used. The track from the top to D350 is harder and rougher but is just looser on the surface. I overtook an horse box going down that one!!
I'm sure that there are loads of dirt roads to do in that area. I only had one day because my trip was a long weekend. The off road excersion was to be included in the days ride in the file below.
Have fun. I did.

Cheers Howard
