Corrosion Advice Please - 1200 GSA

I have just purchased a used 1200 GSA. It is my first BMW motorcycle. It's a beauty!

Can anyone help with advice regarding ways to inhibit corrosion please? It would be lovely to ride on these sunny winter days but I am concerned about salt finding its way into every nook and cranny on the bike. Specifically spoke ends, engine fins, bolts etc. but every part of the bike really.

Any advice for good products that work would be helpful.

either clean it religiously after every trip in winter, and merely frequently in summer, or slather it in ACF50 & then largely ignore it.

You'll find lots of threads on here regarding it. Ideal for riding all year round.

Ah well. You should have done what I did. Sell your immaculate 1200GS and buy an old airhead and then not worry but simply enjoy.

I ride all year round and this works for me, even 140 mile commute through the snow. Pointless having it if you don't make the most of riding it

get rid of anything, and as it's gel it just goes on what you spray it on, not like a misty spray, if you get my drift!

I have an 06 GSA, with 44k on the clock. I have been the sole owner since new.

I never clean it particularly often BUT I always just jetwash it after any ride once winter is in its grip, say late October thro' to April and there is a chance of salt on the road.

I use no ACF50 or other jollup.

It is not used in the week for commuting.

It is garaged in central London.

It has no undue corrosion that I can see.

Thanks Guys, sounds like the ACF 50 and FS365 will do the trick. I rather favour the power wash method then perhaps a dose of one of the above.

I have been warned off products such as WD40 because they do what it says on the tin.... They penetrate any cracks or chips in lacquer or paint and then lift it! Any views from anyone?

Sorry, I didnt mean to mislead with my last post. I never read the side of a WD40 can either. I was warned off by other users including a reputable Bike dealer who told me that WD40 can penetrate paint and engine lacquer, if it is chipped. Not what we want I suspect!

Can't fault ACF50 - my first Winter with it and so far, both commuting and riding out for fun whenever there's now snow, she's looking good!

Not cheap, but brilliant stuff.
I have used it for a number of years now.
I give my bikes a good clean twice a year,using bilt hamber each time.
Each time I use the bike on salted roads I hose it down on my return. In the summer just wash it down if it's really blathered.Never had any corrosion issue's.
Never met anyone else who uses Bilthamber either.

On a slightly different tack, does anyone know where I might pick up some 1200 GSA tank panels? I rather fancy playing with my spray gun but dont want to paint my pristine original panels? So, cheap good panels with dodgy paint finish would be just fine? Any help much appreciated.
