Corrosion - how to stop it getting any worse?

The plan worked - I drove the 60 miles in -3oC temp with horrible salty roads up in the highlands and the bike arrived bone dry, because............................200m of cling film. I covered all the sticky out bits of the bike with black bin liners, first coat of cling film, then bike cover and then more cling film. Of course the trailer (my new trailer) got covered in crap but I was alble to turn the water on at my destination and hose it down. The bike was unwrapped (took abot 40 mins) and was given a WD40 bath over all the metal work. BMW charger plugged in and garage turned heater turned on.

Jesus H Christ, i think I've seen it all now..........:eek

Talking of corrosion I was giving my (new in October) GSA the once over yesterday & fear I spied rust on one of the front discs. She's due into Rainbow tomorrow for her 1st service so I'll ask them to have a butcher's.

High ferrous content discs will rust when exposed to winter salt and damp. Be glad they are not cast iron as used on cars and some Italian bikes.

Are you talking about the disc surface itself or on the carrier, it's normal on the surface, and will disappear the first time you use the brake :) I've got a cast iron beringer on the front of my W800, it looks like something brought up from the titanic 10 minutes after a wash :)

I think he did right after seeing the effect dry salt powder had on an otherwise clean motor cross bike of my sons after carrying it on an open trailer and then putting it away without washing it ( It still looked clean, but when you saw the fur and corrosion on it a few weeks later it obviously wasn't).
