Had the 600 mile service last week at Cooper Reading.
They mistakenly tried to charge £176 for the 'free' service, does this mean the 6k and 12 k services are horrendously priced?
I understand not every dealer has the 600 service for free, or is that duff info. It could certainly affect where to get the GS from

service costs

I was told 600 service was free for 04 reg bikes only not 05 earlier this year (another BMW cost cutting measure no doubt)

just had 6000 service £154 inc loan bike in manchester

My 05 GS12 had it's 600 mile service free (labour, that is).

My 6000 mile service is booked in for first week in October (will be at 8000 miles but told that'll be no problem) and will be £175 including parts/sundries.

Servicing done by Pidcocks and includes loan bike.

The 600 mile service was completely free up until 2004. Now the labour is free but it is up to the discretion of dealer as to whether or not they charge you for the consumables. However, if you have the 600 mile service completed by a dealer who didn't supply the bike initially, then they may try and charge you the full amount.

NOG are completely free for 600 mile service (or were in July for my RT service). 6k service next month

Friend just had a 24,000 service inc fuel filter and front pad change. Just under 750 quid!

You never did say who charged that price Wreford. Are they located in Hertford by any chance?

600 mile was Free of Charge, just parts, 6000 mile including annual service (basically 2 services) was £155 plus parts and VAT, but needed new brake pads (only £22).

Fitted a Remus Can free of charge (not the can, just the labour) as all the servicing was done at the same time.

Both times had a free loan bike (R1150R) - always free if they supplied the bike.

All software updates done automatically and they even set my clock to 24 hour mode (cant stand clocks that show 6:00 instead of 18:00 - but I'm odd like that).

First service's labour cost is on the discretion of the dealer - they usually don't bother charging if you bought the bike from them, and intend to come back to service it - as Paul W said, NOG didn't charge for the first one..

If you bundle up full brake pad changes, annual service (ABS brake fluid change) and 12K service... then you'll end up with a wallet that echoes... well, I did...
