Cotswolds early Autumn weekend - incorporating UKMGer ! The Gate Hangs High - 2,3,4 October 26

I am currently enjoying 5 ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ accommodation and Michelin dining, touring around France this week on the mighty K, in the blazing sunshine ☀️ taking in some of Europes finest roads.

………so the prospect of getting back to the UK next week, loading up the GS and then camping in a muddy field in Oxfordshire with some miserable old blokes for a couple of nights is just what’s needed to make me remember to always “keep it real” 👍

At Haggs Bank, Alston Moor tonight, head for home tomorrow to get turned round :thumby:

See ya's there folks :beerjug:

Looks like we have a great crowd 👍

There is a lot to do and see the this area. Last year TJMouse led us on a great ride out, taking in some excellent roads and pretty villages.

I’d be keen to do something similar again, a different circular route. I would recommend that we plan to stop for lunch at the Cirencester bikers cafe / classic showroom which was a bit of a highlight last time. In the end we needed a hot extraction, because numerous bods felt their credit cards twitching…

If we stop there, it also gives anyone keen for the afternoon brewery tour the chance to straight-line it back to Hook Norton while the others take a lazier route.

Does that make sense? Any other suggestions? Any local guides??

Sounds like fun.

Weather is looking better than it was a few days ago.

I’m thinking Beemer if it’s wet, Guzzi if it’s ok, and I’ll just put up with a little discomfort if it’s a long ride. It wasn’t built for comfort

Who’s sorting the ride out?

I’m in full agreement with Paul about CTL cafe/ bike place. Well worth another visit.

There’s also Gilks cafe as either an alternative or as an ‘as well as’. Only about 30mins from the gate hangs high. More auto-memorabilia themed cafe than anything bike specific, but a nice enough place, although I’ve only been the once.

I think it was TJMouse who led the ride out last year starting from CJT’s as it’s all local to him. I reckon we need his services again.

Can you do a spreadsheet so we know what’s happening? :D

Thanks Don.

Unless someone with local knowledge steps up, I will plot a route and share it.

Useful things -

Previously we have gravitated from the pub to a kind of gin-gan-gooly around a fire (if anyone in a 4 wheeler could bring such a thing) or just around the tents - so a camp chair and a bottle or 6 pack of your favourite tipple will come in handy.
