Recently had a new engine fitted and got stuck in traffic today.
Engine temp reached 98 which I don't remember seeing before (sounded like a bag of bolts too) Water level is above the minimum and it cooled as soon as moving again, just wondered out of curiosity what sort of temp is classed as "max" ?

Talking a watery things, washing the bike off when I got home I realised that the little water pump breather hole has gone !!!
Does this mean it'll suffocate ? :)

Its still there Spud. BMW have moved it under the engine so you don't see it leak.

I think the cooling fans cut in at 100c. Mine normally runs at 82/84 ish on the open road.

Mine cuts in at 100c in traffic. So no problem but will sound like a bag of bolts. Bmw
quality.

100c the fan definitely kicks in, happens a lot here, not a problem. Usual running temp around 84c

Since the system is pressurised the boiling point is much higher than 100C, so not really a worry. Just don't remove rad cap until it has cooled.
