I'm a firm believer that cheap premiums are one thing, but the reality is how the insurance company respond when a claim is necessary.
I took a one trip policy for me, my wife and daughter for a recent trip to the US, I took it in advance of the trip and was attracted by the COVID cover it provided, seeing as COVID seemed to be on the rise in our area. Anyway, 4 days before departure my Mrs caught it and was very knocked out by it. Got seen by the Dr and signed off for 2 weeks, she was unable to travel.
I cancelled her flights and gathered all the documentation and made a claim. I did follow their requirements exactly but they paid out with no quibble for all flights minus taxes, seat reservations and the £30 BA charged for cancelling.
The policy was round about £140, and was at the cheaper end, behind Coverwise they are Axa.
A good service story for a change.
