Some of you may recall (vaguely) our trip around Spain which was supposed to end in San Sebastián, but ended with my thread Covid-19 positive In Spain.
We had enjoyed a couple of weeks on our own riding around Spain including Barcelona and the Picos, we had booked a few nights at the highly recommended Monte Igueldo and were due to sail back on the new ferry to Portsmouth when I tested positive for Covid. The immediate problems were the hotel wanted us out, I didn’t have enough drugs including Insulin to get us through the additional time away.
My wife ended up running around numerous pharmacies to get everything I needed and the local Dr found us another place to stay.
At the time some close friends were very jealous of us going to San Sebastián and particularly the Casa Julian restaurant for steaks without them. Yesterday we returned with our friends, albeit this time we flew to Bilbao. When we walked into the reception area my wife became very emotional as it brought back what for her had been a stressful experience.
Last night we used the funicular and walked around the bay to the old town and enjoyed Pintxos and burnt Basque cheesecake washed down with some local vino blanco.
This visit is all about the other three but I need to come back on the bike and enjoy the Picos once more.
