Had a day up there yesterday. Good weather was forecast, with a gentle breeze*
It was fairly warm, with cloud/sun/overcast. Sort of just right.
The place is rammed with fish, all wild brownies. Had in the region of 30 out and returned, with four times as many ‘takes or swirls’ to converted fish hooked, all on dry/in the surface film flies.
Only one decent ish fish which came off before I could tell how big (under 1.5 lb) fish caught and returned were nothing bigger than ten inches.
Hawthorns/shipmans/anything black/brown sedge.
* yes, which at times must have been at least 15mph gusts, compared to 5mph forecast... Anyone who knows the place..knows
it can be wild to say the least.
Taking it easy today. Its hard work just walking the shoreline, without a full fishing session.
Take strong waterproof boots and waterproof jacket, travel light! You only need a floating line.
