Had my bike in for a 10k kms service yesterday.
When I picked it up the mechanic pointed out that I had managed to put a moderately sized dent/warp in my bash plate.
Can't remember doing this but I suspect it may have been going over mx 'whoops' during an offroad training session when the bash plate may have grounded on the peak as I went over - not sure of this though it could have been picked up bouncing around offroad more generally.
Anyway - the friendly mechanic showed me the Crankcase of another 12 that had been split open around the rear mounting point - probably as the result of grounding going over a berm of some sort - required a 20 hour rebuild in the workshop, not covered by warranty (insurance covered it I was told).
The fracture looked like the plate had taken a hit and pushed the mounting bolt into the case - almost like a bullet impact - star patterned cracks around the mounting point on the case
Be careful grounding this machine out.....especially in remote areas.....
