Whilst I was fitting my new TT panniers racks, I've found the start of a crack in the rear sub frame of my paralever, it appears to be starting on a web that runs at the rear RH underside of the top sub frame tube.

This web appears to take the weight of the panniers and is cracked along the weld for about 3/4 of an inch, its an old wound, well rusty and there is no fresh metal showing.

The web itself appears to be a little flimsey in my inexperienced eyes and I wondered if anybody makes a strenthened rear frame for a para?

I cant imagine i'm the first this has happened too looking at the thickness of the web

ps i'd like to keep the seat height the same or lower & i had already thought of making a rear frame with built in pannier rails but it might be easier to source one from TT or HPN Qtec maybe:nenau

It's unusable for me :nenau I've tried to buy stuff off of him before but the site just locks up. If he can't be arsed I don't see why I should.

I think he's one of those "I can do this web lark" or he's got a mate who is an hexpert

But his talent lies in working with metal not bytes and bits and he does the phone relatively OK :D

Jim Cray of Cray Engineering is the most talented engineer I know and he can't be doing with all that computer crap, he's never without work so I don't imagine he's bothered :nenau

But I'd ring :D

weld up the crack, and get some steel and re-enforce the mounting areas. i had a a crack from a low side off road crash with panners on and welded them for a quick fix and still holding after 4 years.
