this has probably been posted before, but i think it is worth a revisit.
next time you wash your bike have a look at the rear wheel hub where the disc bolts fit.
last year i had three like this in a week.this one prompted me to post
when mentioned to the dealer, the standard response is "we hav'nt had any problems".
however in @2010 the hub was superceeded to a steel unit.(instead of alloy)
replacement ones are steel.
if there was no problem with the early design why modify it.:augie:augie
if this happened on any car there would be a worldwide recall program.
i have not heard of or seen any total failures but....
all five bolt holes are cracked,IMO it is due to corrosion between the bolt and the housing, this expands then splits the alloy.

phew, i was just going to watch the footy, i will have to get of the sofa now go in that freezing garage and have a look .:D

It's probably like a worn drive shaft UK causing vibration. They all will eventually.

Just pissed off by poor design for which BMW should know better.
They waste resources on complex stuff like the front beak frame. It's clearly hand made when could be pressed steel. The GSA top case and side carriers are an afterthought costing way more than they should.
Having blown the budget they skimp on the driveshaft (would CV joints be "so" expensive? They also cock up the clutch by not fitting a nose bearing where gearbox aligns with crankshaft.
It's still a great bike but should be a great deal better.
