I drop my spotless, 1150 into Cannons. Pick it up six hours later and £400 odd pound lighter. (24,000 service)
As I don my gloves, a fitter walks out and asked, "Who did the last service"
"Well, you did" I replied, "why?"
"You final drive nut was a right bastard to get out"

I ride home with a smile as all is nicely serviced. A few weeks later I become aware of a big dig and a long (4") scratch right across the drive shaft. I was so puzzled as to where it came from, until I put 2 & 2 together.

Gutted. I always put my bike into the dealer for this exact thing. Pay top dollar too.:spitfire

If yer want zummat done proper job ye gots to do its yerself oim afraid. Way o the world innum? Then, when you skin your knuckles and scratch your final drive up you can blaim yourself like I do :D And then feeling all annoyed with yerself, head for the beer fridge :thumb2

P.S
2nd. Yamaha RD350LC :D
I've been dreaming of getting one of those again. I crashed me first and wrecked the second with mechanical incompetence :D

My RD was brill. I’ve got some pics somewhere and keep promising to get them scanned in. I had it stolen from my parents home.:(
I do keep looking on eBay, and now and then a good original RD comes up. It would look good next to the GS:thumb

Why don't you go to Steptoe? Bit of a troll to t'other side of town, but he'll lend you a GS, do a good job and charge literally half of what you just paid...:augie

I got my GS from Cannons as well, but even the temptations of that nice young lady aren't enough to lure me away from Steptoe now :D

I've been in touch with Steppers, he is doing the work from now (if he wants it that is) Will i be able to say FBMWSH ????

REF: the girl, she gown.... Ronnies daughter has fled.

My book's all properly stamped, and if you ever sell the bike I'm sure another Tosser would regard a Steptoe Stamp at least as highly as a dealer stamp - I know I would :thumb

Shame about the girl though :(

No, but Neil does give reciepts and anyone who knows him here will probably rate his work as high, if not higher than a dealer's.

I'd certainly not have any hesitation accepting service reciepts in a book to show a GS has been looked after by Neil if I was looking to buy one......i doubt many here would either.

taking it to one who gives a sh*t means....

do you want  FBMWSH or...
FBMWSH::)

Better
Mechanical
Work

for long term ownership - i'd take the latter.
:D

I agree to all above, and that is why i did contact Neil last september about taking on my bike. He will be doing it from now on. :)
