Hi
I'm the new owner of a 2019 R1250GS
everything is great on the bike, but I've found the pillion space is a bit cramped. I've got a Givi V46 top case that I've had for donkeys years
its fitted onto the SRA5108 mounting plate, I can't find any adjustment anywhere.
Has anyone had a similar problem and managed to resolve it?
Thanks for any advice.

I have a feeling though it your op box that the issue as I have the Givi DLM46 Trekker Dolomiti top box with the Givi Specific Rear Rack SRA5112 and there is ample room for a pillion

I previously had a 21 GS with the same Givi mount and a 52l Trekker. I also felt that rider and pillion space was a fair bit tighter than expected and we had on my Crosstourer with the same box.

I’ve GSA now and it positions the box a bit further back and gives significantly more space.

Not an easy or cheap fix but I believe the GSA luggage rack will fit a GS.

I also have a TRK52 which is now on my 1300

It was on my Crosstourer to begin with then on my 1200GS with an SRA5108, I found the same as Hartley that there was slightly more pillion space on the Honda

I never found the 1200 cramped though with that setup, I’m tosser shaped but wifey is normal size

Of course as Leadfarmer points out, size of occupants between tank and topbox will have a bearing on comfort level.

Thanks for all your replys
So the main thing is to ease up on the pasties and cake, then pick up a GSA luggage rack if I find one.

If you get the GSA rack you’ll be able to carry more pasties an cake 👍🏻

Ride solo. Problem solved.

I have a V46 on mine - mounted to a chinese version of a touratech type flat rack with givi fitting kit. Like you not a problem solo but a couple of months ago my wife went pillon to Wales for the first time post children (nearly 20 years ago). Bloody ell, I had to lean forward to get any space (i do have bar risers and a top box pad fitted which may have affected it slightly). Anyway Ive bought a SW Motech plate (cost about £30) which I intend to adapt and bolt to my existing plate to allow me to place it an inch or so further back. You could probably buy the generic monokey plate and do the same thing but where's the fun in that - and theyre twice as much. Bike is up in the Lakes at the minute due to house move and no current garage so progress is a bit stalled but so far I've used a multitool to cut a lump of plastic off the plate that is specific to SW Motech plates - took less than a minute and it now sits flush. I'll let you know how it goes.

I too have a 2019 R1250GS, and have a Givi 52L Trekker Top box fitted, with backrest to the SRA5108 plate. When I first got mine, the wife found the pillion sitting position a bit uncomfortable until I realised that the pillion seat can be set in 2 positions, forward and rearward. My pillion seat was set in the rearward position, moved it to the forward position and now wife finds it quite comfortable. How do you have yours setup?

why are you sitting that far back ?

Might be better with this style of topbox. Needs a Vario mounting plate.
Also available in 49 litre size.
The lid slopes backwards quite noticeably and would create more pillion space

The Givi plate moves the topbox forward compared to standard BMW varios on a GS.
The GSA rack positions the box further back but is neither as robust nor comfy for pillions if they use the handles.
Something to keep in mind if choosing a topbox. The Givi is good if mostly solo, less so if mostly 2-up.

I had the same issue. I made up some extension brackets using 5mm aluminium. Set the topbox back 2 inches.
Topbox or Missus hasn't fallen off yet!

The GSA rack with a Givi SRA plate has loads more room than the GS for a pillion. I fitted the reinforcement brackets that came with the Givi plate which loads of people leave off. My wife has little hands and prefers the grab handles too.

My only issue is that she now sits too far back in twisty roads which affects the handling.

I also fitted all the brackets and also agree that the bike feels a little less stable now.

I had the 1250 with the Outback trekker on and same thing until I changed the seat`s to A Russell Daylong seat`s which gave us much more room, Already sent my new 1300gsa seat`s off to Russell to work there magic on.
