Crap Residuals

BMW dealers are notorious for scamming people. :)

I asked what they would give me in part ex for a 2008 Aprilia Shiver 750 with sub 2000 miles on the clock and only 6 months old. Bike had full cat 1 alarm and immobiliser (£300), FSH and was in pristine condition. Actual mileage was about 1700 miles.

Bike cost me £6000

After 6 months of ownership, BMW dealership offered me £2000-£2500

Even taking into account depreciation, that was a piss take offer. I eventually sold the bike to Johnny (HR oonyack) for nearly double what they offered.

Take my advice, sell your bikes elsewhere because BMW dealerships take the piss. Sell privately. If the outstanding credit is a problem take out a loan to pay it off and sell private. It really is the only way you will get anywhere near what your bike is actually worth. I know its hassle, but in my case it meant I got ££££'s more than BMW's top offer.

They also offered a similarly lowly sum to a couple of other people I know. If they had given me £2500 for the shiver, it would have been back on sale with due haste for £4750-£5000. Even taking into account they would have serviced it thats still the best part of 100% profit. Greedy. :(

Cheers

Matt
