I finally got round to putting the Nippy Norman's hugger on my 12GSA after weeks of no spare time at all. Also plucked up courage to remove rear wheel.... this may be laughable to some of you but I've never tried to remove a bike's rear wheel as it looks far too difficult and the chances of of it going wrong are high in my incapable hands.

Anyway....rear wheel was a doddle (thanks guys who advised me on a previous post!) but he hugger! What a piece of c**p!! None of the drilled holes lined up with the bracket so was forced to bodge them in. The design means you have to remove the brake line protector and replace with a couple of cable ties - poor, v poor.

Was so fed up with all the dicking around to get it in place with very little time to play with I've left it in situ. Here's hoping it does the job. But for the money it's total rubbish. Not recommended.

Oh and happy new year! :beerjug:

Hi Charlie, re 1200 and huggers...........

Read about most huggers, looked at most huggers even bought a few huggers!

conclusion.........:nenau unless you pay for a carbon fibre one, its not worth it

So, 2nd winter and not bothering, soapy water + sponge + graft.

Just my pennies worth :beerjug:

Hi Charlie,
Cant understand the trouble you have had fitting the hugger. I bought one a few months ago and it fitted a treat without a hitch. You must have had a bad one. I tend to agree with you regarding the cable ties but for the money its been ok.
I dont think that there is a hugger out there that would keep the crud off the back of the bike and IMHO on the GS`s huggers have very little benefit apart from looking the part.
My mate has an 1150 Adventure with hugger and it does very little either. He calls his bike Dyson as it hoovers up all the dirt from the road and leaves it all over the back of the bike.
I am going to name mine Super Dyson as it hoovers all the mud up and puts it ALL over the bike. How can you get mud on the top of the tank behind the tank panels and behind the clocks after a nice little run out in mid wales like we did today.
Its the dirtiest bike I have ever had and I LOVE IT and TD you are right just spong it all off till the next time.

Have a happy new year to all you tossers
Bob
