After my recent little spill I'd like to buy the crash bars from Touratech but need to know how wide they are at the widest point. This is because I have to get through my 'gate' at the front of the house as I store her in the 'garden' area at the front. I can't find a reference to it anywhere on their site.

Crash bars are great until you end up dropping it in gravel!

Thanks, I'll measure the gap I have to navigate. I can only pass this gap with one Vario pannier attached, so this is a little worrying. Might have to make the gap larger... perhaps a bit of extra speed upon entering? ;)

Just measured up (you wouldn't believe how difficult it is to find things in this house after my good wife has tidied things away) and I have a 38" gap. So these bars should fit. Could somebody post a link to the H&B bars you all like so much and explain why they're preferred over the Touratech bars? The latter look fine to me and are stainless steel, so should be able to cope with our weather.
