Just to let you know that Stahlkoffer is now offering crash bars & tank protectors for the R1100/1150 GS range.
They come in either red or black & can be purchased separately or as a pair.
We will have a bike on display at the Birmingham Show end of November so punters will be able to "see them in the flesh".
We have included a few photos to give you some idea what they look like.
Apologies for the rain spots. I will post some better pictures in the next couple of days.
Any comments gratefully received.
Regards
Bernie

can you take the rocker/valve covers off without removing your bars ?.
if not this will increase service cost, like the early BMW crash bars :(
what will the cost be :)

scaffolding

Show me crashbars that are made from round tubing that dont look like scaffholding...

Crash bars are essentially bars, bent around things with a pupose to protect the machine..

What a silly and unconstructive comment.

You going to be making them for the 800, if you do, be aware of the different makes of engine guards that people fit, as some scaffholding... sorry i mean crashbars, don't fit in conjunction with some engine guards.

Whats silly about describing them as scaffolding they do nothing to enhance a machine that was not built to win awards for it's looks and as ash says will only increase service time and costs i would question the need for them in the first place the vast majority of g.s. owners are not going to do a long way round or down but i suppose stahlkoffer will shift a few sets

You do have to remove the crash bars to take the rocker/valve covers off but having checked all you need to do is remove four bolts which should only take a few minutes. This could be done prior to taking your bike for service thereby avoiding increased service costs.
Hope that helps.

Hi
I will check out the transport costs & let you know.
Yes the crash bars come as standard in black.
VAT is 17.5% at present but from January this will go up to 20%.
I can mail you a copy of the instructions if you want. Believe me, they are quite simple.
Hope that helps

Can you do any other colour eg silver ? and what price

With the cylinder guards, are there any cross pieces, or do they fit on their own IYSWIM?

I've seen there's four bolts for them, is that each cylinder guard, and where do they bolt into?

I have to say that being the owner of Stahlkoffer panniers, pannier liner bags and pannier-top bags I know that their products are of very high quality and they offer real guarantees to boot. I have been waiting for them to start making the new crash bars since they moved premises and I have to say that they look like they offer good protection, good looking scaffolding i reckon.

You remove the aluminium belly-pan & the bars are then bolted together using a horizontal bar supplied. Hope that makes sense.

Does the £95 ex VAT include the upper bars for the R1100GS?

My R1100GS has the R1150GSA 30L tank. Will the upper bars fit around the tank?

Any more pictures of them fitted?
I'm potentially interested in just the head guards for my 1100 (I assume they can be fitted without the tank protector bits)?

Can't find them on your website...

Yes the crash bars can be fitted without the tank protectors. I'll try & post some photos for you but it might take a while.

Has anyone got any feedback about these, looking for some bars for my 1150GS, but cant seem to find any reviews or comments anywhere
