Barnoe helped me in creating a new logo for my website which is really great and I am wanting to order some merchandise. Some key rings the company wants a higher resolution file such as “ai”
I have reached out to Barnoe who is not on line. Anyone else can help please drop me a DM
Thanks

yeah - the issue is that if all you've got is a JPG and it's not high enough quality then you can't really make a higher resolution verion of it from the JPG (well, not without re-doing the artwork)

Now, if you've got a PDF then there's some hope that it's higher quality and the company might be able to work from that.

If Barnoe did a JPG for the website it would have been lower resolution so that it loaded up faster.

AI in this case is "Adobe Illustrator" by the way, and not to be confused with ChatGPT :D

Can Photochop not pull out and convert to AI-file from the PDF?
Just curious as I’m not at my desk right now.

If there's a good enough quality PDF and the printers have Illustrator (which they must do if they're asking for an AI file) then they can just open the PDF in Illustrator and work directly from it.

What's not entirely clear is what files @grantmac has at his disposal. The thread title suggests it might be a PDF or a JPG. It may be both.

For a website, I would expect it to be a JPG, but it may be that @Barnoe also provided a PDF for print.

We simply don't know.

why not import that into adobe and use the trace feature to create illustrator/ vector file?

Thanks Carl and to the others. Appreciate the help. Barnoe did a brilliant number with the design in my opinion👍👍👍👍

had a look the pdf isn't high enough a resolution it needs to be traced which takes a while... But I don't use Illustrator will check with someone at the office on monday.

Just let me check you want this as a "loss less" Vector file so it can be scaled and turned into other things...?

I can save/ export it as an Ai "illustrator" file but that won't be any good in my opinion.

Thanks Carl
Yes I need it to be scalable so they can use it for merchandising purposes. Apparently the one that Barnoe kindly made is OK for small things like stickers but not for key rings. A bit strange as the stickers I had done are the same size as the key rings and they turned out great
Appreciate your help
I owe you one!

I think it has to do with actual size versus recreated size.. if the recreated siz if several times smaller it'll probably be ok... the problem comes when the print is several times larger... then the artifacts and anti alias errors creep in.

The guys who are making my merchandise / give aways have asked for a scalable version and apparently this is an “ai” type file. I am no expert but I do know that these types of files can be used from anything from coin size up to 6 foot prints on canvas
Again I’m no expert that’s why I asked for the help

they want a vector based file, in either .eps or Adobe illustrator .ai zoom into the JPEG and you'll see the errors creep in for examplet he below, the problem we have our graphics op the lovely Kate can't do this job.... as she's busy currently on a gig.

you could try people by the hour..? as it's an online thing it would be simple enough, plus you can ask them to do a brand identity pack, it's usually 6 variations of the logo for use in different products. you might aswell, and you get the assests which you save to one drive etc. cos then all you do is share that link with your supplier and they'll have it all to hand

Thanks Carl. Appreciate your help👍👍👍
If anyone else has ideas, welcome.
@Mzokk sent me something which I will send to the guys making the key rings which had a higher resolution ad jpg file.

Let’s see what happens but if anyone has other suggestions really happy to listen.
I am still trying to get hold of Barbie to see how he did the original

the other benefit if you have the brand indentity pack they'll usually add the design to different things, T-shirts, Hoodies, Mugs etc. you cna send this to you print on demand partner. who will take care of order fullfillment

for example you organise a trip, tell folks if they want to have stuff to be team colours etc. they can place a single consolidated order to print, the printer does all the required stuff you never touch it and all gets done by magic

Looks very good but they want a pound, a kin pound I'm not made of muuney.....
